02

What information we receive

We receive information in three situations.

  • When you enquire. The Begin page prepares an email in your own mail program; nothing is sent until you send it. That email, and any you write to us directly, contains what you choose to include: usually your name, your email address, the brand you are building, a few lines about it, and an indication of budget and timing.
  • When you work with us. If an enquiry becomes a project, we hold the details needed to do the work and to invoice for it: contact details, correspondence, briefs, contracts, and payment records.
  • When you visit the website. The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising tools. Our hosting provider records the technical information any web server needs to deliver pages and to protect against abuse, such as your IP address, the page requested, and the time of the request.

03

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of personal information. Ours are these.

  • Answering enquiries and discussing possible work: our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, balanced against your reasonable expectations when you write to a studio.
  • Delivering a project: the performance of a contract with you, or the steps you ask us to take before entering one.
  • Keeping business and financial records: our legal obligations, including those under UK tax law.
  • Running and securing the website: our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and safe.

04

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a project are deleted twelve months after our last exchange. Records of client projects are kept for six years after the project ends, which is the period UK tax and accounting rules expect, and then deleted. Server logs are held by our hosting provider for a short, rolling period and are not retained by us.

05

Who else handles it

We do not sell or share your information for marketing. A small number of service providers process it on our behalf, under contracts that restrict what they may do with it.

  • Google Workspace (Google LLC and Google Ireland Limited): our email and document storage. Your enquiry arrives in, and is stored by, Google Workspace.
  • Vercel Inc.: hosting for this website, including the server logs described above.
  • Professional advisers, such as an accountant, where a project's financial records require it.

06

Information leaving the UK

Google and Vercel are based in the United States and may process information there. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law: the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it, and otherwise the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, which you can ask us to see.

07

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and in some cases to receive it in a form you can take elsewhere. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object and we will stop unless we have a compelling reason to continue.

08

How to make a request

Write to hello@culteditstudio.com with the subject line "Data request" and tell us what you would like us to do. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We respond within one month, and we do not charge for reasonable requests.

09

Cookies and tracking

At the date above, this website sets no cookies, first-party or third-party, and does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Vercel Analytics, Speed Insights, advertising or remarketing tools, or embedded third-party media. It stores one flag in your browser's session storage so that the opening sequence plays once per visit rather than on every page; the flag contains no personal information and is discarded when you close the tab. Fonts are served from this website, not from a third party. Because nothing non-essential is set, the site shows no cookie banner. If this ever changes, this notice will be updated first.

10

How to complain

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice if what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
